If the pastor is appointed to a local church, the name of the church(es) and mailing address will then be shown, in which case you can click on the name of the church for details about the church. This list may not include unlicensed local pastors without an appointment. If any information below needs updating please contact the Pensacola District Office, (850) 434-0118. To protect retirees' privacy, listings for those with no appointment and no e-mail address may show no information.

Clergy Information

If you have a clergy-person in your family tree, the General Commission on Archives and History (GCAH) may be able to provide some biographical information about them.  You will want to read about their clergy research service in order to understand what they can offer and how to make a request.  You should first check their Index to Conference Memoirs to see if your ancestor is listed.  More information here >>

Baptism and Local Church Membership
Baptism and local church membership records are the two most frequently requested materials of the General Commission on Archives and History (GCAH) but the GCAH does not hold such records.  In United Methodist practice these records are kept at the local church.  If the local church has closed and merged with another church then the records should be transferred to the new church.  If a church closes and there is no successor then the records are transferred to the annual conference archives - the regional depository.  When searching for such records the best place to start is with the annual conference archivist.   The Directory of Annual Conference Archives for The United Methodist Church will list the appropriate contact person. For the directory please continue here.

About
(Dr. Cory Smith) - It is a joy to announce a new venture in prayer for the Alabama-West Florida Conference. Hopefully by now you have seen the daily prayer requests that have come from the Office of Connectional Ministries. These updates will also include prayers for individual churches and appointed pastors. Through the year we will prayer for every appointed pastor and for every church! The churches for which we are praying are the same listed on the printed wall calendars and also available here. In addition to the prayer email, a prayer page is available for details of prayer needs from the throughout the conference. What better way for us to connect with God and one another than prayer! As John Wesley stated years ago, “I continue to dream and pray about a revival of holiness in our day that moves forth in mission and creates authentic community in which each person can be unleashed through the empowerment of the Spirit to fulfill God's creational intentions.” May we join together in daily prayer for the mission of the church and for the community of people who are part of the Alabama-West Florida Conference!
