5th Sunday Sub-District Cluster Sing 6 p.m. at Cottage Hill United Methodist Church
(Cottage Hill) - "Cottage Hill is hosting the next  Fifth Sunday Sub-District cluster sing for North Escambia County, Florida, on Sunday, April 29 @ 6:00 PM.  It will be a traditional sing followed by finger foods.  A traditional sing is congregational singing and any choir or group that would like to perform a couple of songs. Just because it is a Methodist Sub-District gathering does not mean only Methodists can come - everybody is welcome!"
 
Here are directions to Cottage Hill United Methodist Church:  
From Interstate 10 and US 29 proceed north 8.3 miles past the paper mill in Cantonment, to the “Y” traffic light intersection, and veer to the right on north 95A. Proceed north 1.3 miles to Williams Ditch Road. Turn right or east. With CAUTION cross the railroad tracks and proceed 0.2 miles to Cottage Hill United Methodist Church. The church will be on the right side of the street.

Blue Lake Christian Writers Retreat
Blue Lake Christian Writers Retreat is a writers conference where both beginning and experienced writers can take classes from a professional faculty of experienced Christian authors and editors. Classes are offered for fiction and nonfiction, novels, articles, and devotions. Praise and worship begin each general session, and motivational keynotes create an atmosphere for spiritual growth and inspiration. Room and board are provided for those who stay for the full conference. Commuter options are also available.  Deadline for registration is April 15. Registration limited to first 100 people.

Huntingdon Leadership Academy
The event page is here.  HLA is a week-long youth theology institute funded by the Lilly Endowment for rising high school juniors and seniors who feel may feel called to ministry or Christian leadership. Participants will engage with Huntingdon College religion faculty who give college-style lectures, lead and attend worship services led by local ministers, preachers, and students, visit areas of ministry in Montgomery, journey through the week with a small group of their peers led by a current Huntingdon student mentor, and have a lot of fun!

SE Jurisdiction Meeting of Lay Servant Ministries District and Conference Directors

Updated information (list of classes and presenters) is here on the Pensacola District Message Board.
(AWFC-UMC 12/02/2017) - There will be no Conference Blue Lake Training in 2018. We will hold a large training event at First United Methodist Church, Montgomery from Thursday, July 12, 2018, through Saturday, July 14, 2018, as we host the Southeastern Jurisdiction Annual Conference and District Directors meeting. There will be four or five Advanced Courses available as well as the Basic Course. Registration will be available in the spring of 2018. You may attend courses in any district. You are never limited to courses in your own particular district. For questions about Lay Servant Ministries in the Alabama-West Florida Conference, contact David Bowen at david.bowenjr@gmail.com.

AWF Conference Cooperative "Mission u" Event
at St. Luke UMC, Pensacola
Mission u in Alabama-West Florida Conference is a cooperative event of Board of Church and Society and United Methodist Women. It provides opportunity for mission education, confrontation with current issues and spiritual growth. The current mission studies are presented by certified leaders. Every church and local unit of United Methodist Women is strongly encouraged to participate. CEU credits are available. Registration forms will be available at the appropriate time on the website, http://www.awf-umw.org

All clergy and laity of the district are invited to attend. Churches of the Pensacola District are asked to suspend their regular activities for this evening so that all who wish to attend can do so.
 
District Fused Youth Conference 4 p.m. at Community Life UMC. The event page is here.
On the first Sunday in November, 4 p.m.-6:30 p.m., youth from all over the Panhandle will gather at the Community Life United Methodist Church in Gulf Breeze for a worship celebration. All Pensacola District churches are asked to suspend their regular activities and gather together this evening for food, fun, worship, and fellowship. The Fused Youth Conference is sponsored by the Pensacola District.

In observance of Thanksgiving, the Pensacola District Office will be closed for the week at noon Wednesday, November 21, and will reopen the following Monday.

District Superintendent Timothy Trent and his wife, Linda, invite all Pensacola District United Methodist clergy and their spouses (or a guest, if you do not have a spouse) to this evening of dinner and fellowship. This is a gift to you from Tim and Linda, so there is no charge, but we must have a head count by noon on Tuesday, December 4. The location will be The Wright Place, 80 East Wright Street, in downtown Pensacola.   • All items are subject to review and approval by the Pensacola District Office. 
  • To send items for consideration e-mail admin@umcpensacoladistrict.org.
  • Send the full announcement in text format so that we can copy and paste it.
  • When submitting items for Facebook, is there a URL you can share with us?
  • Send us your flyer, brochure, or applicable graphic/picture - or the URL to a web page where this is available.
  • Please note that we do not use Publisher. We do use Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, and PDF.

Due to the many activities going on around our conference, local church events are no longer posted at the Alabama-West Florida Conference website (AWFUMC.org/Events) unless they are of conference-wide interest. If you choose to post an event please note the guidelines below. This was published by the Alabama-West Florida Conference in October 2017. 
 
 
Event Promotion Guidelines for the AWF Conference Calendar
(AWF-UMC 10/16/2017) - The Alabama-West Florida Conference cabinet and CORE team have approved new guidelines for promoting events in the conference. This will streamline how information is submitted, where events are promoted and also provides suggestions on how groups can help promote their events.
