District Hispanic Ministries Needs
A note from District Superintendent Mike Roberts 11-03-09
Hispanic Ministries is off to a great start with Francisco and Cecilia providing tireless and creative leadership. Each week they conduct at least two worship services, three Bible studies, one Sunday School, and one prayer breakfast, plus they are visiting in the communities and in the local churches.
In order to assist in their ministry, there are a few needs that our local churches can help with. If you can provide any of the following items, Francisco and Cecilia will use them in the creation of children's ministries. Please bring all your donations or contributions to the district office. Also, the van that Francisco and Cecilia are driving is nearing its "last leg." If you have or know of anyone who has a van or SUV they would like to donate for this ministry, please contact the district office. We will be happy to give a charitable donation receipt.

Will You Help Support District Hispanic Ministry?
In January 2009 the Pensacola District Missions Committee in combination with Cokesbury UMC, St. Luke UMC, and First UMC-Pensacola, joined together to bring a full-time pastor, Rev. Francisco Castillo, and his wife, Cecilia, to develop Hispanic Ministry in our Pensacola District. Through this ministry we have been able to touch hundreds of people in our community. Your donations will help this vital ministry. If you would like to donate to Pensacola District Hispanic Ministry, please make your check payable to the Pensacola District Administration Fund and mail it to the UMC Pensacola District Office, P.O. Box 2727, Pensacola, FL 32513-2727.
Rev. Francisco Castillo Hired Full-time
to Develop Hispanic Ministry
in the Pensacola District
of The United Methodist Church
Rev. Castillo was born in Baja California, Mexico, and was raised in a Methodist family and church. He holds a Master’s Degree in Theology from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois.
From 1988 to 2002 Francisco worked for the Pacific Northwest Conference and the Desert Southwest Conference of the UMC as the Senior Pastor of Mabton UMC and Iglesia Metodista Unida Emanuel. Throughout this period, he turned around both congregations that grew exponentially and enjoyed an excellent reputation in the community.
For five years, he worked in Nogales, Arizona, as community developer under the sponsorship of the General Board of Global Ministries where he was in charge of employment training programs, directed College scholarship workshops for low income students in the U.S and Mexico, and organized public outreach programs in both countries.
One of Francisco’s passions is music. He has organized several children’s choirs that have toured our nation and some parts of Mexico, giving concerts with great success. He has also organized volleyball and softball tournaments with the youth. Francisco also enjoys leading worship, playing piano, bass and guitar, and he is an avid golfer. He is married to Cecilia, also a Methodist by birth, and they have four children. You can contact the Castillos at franciscocastillos@hotmail.com or by calling Francisco at 850-380-7672.
